DRIVETRAIN DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING (2017-2018):
For our actual drivetrains we elected to go for a further simplified design that was more easily manufactured.
The photographs show the 2017 rover, whose suspension system I was in charge of. It had air-filled tires which we replaced with the steel spring wheels later. I did not design the 2017 arm or hand pictured below.
In 2018, the rover featured design improvements including a rear trailing arm and a carbon fiber/aluminum sandwich chassis.
